Her mother agreed with Lucy's desire to live for God and allowed her to renounce the engagement.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe rejected bridegroom denounced Lucy as a Christian and had the governor order her death. The governor had her tortured by gouging her eyes out, but God restored her eyesight. The governor then ordered her to be set on fire. Again, God interceded and she was saved.
