St. Therese of Lisieux (1873-1897) has been acclaimed “the greatest saint of modern times”and declared a Doctor of the Church by pope John Paul II in 1997. Countless people have been touched by her intercession and imitate her “little way” of sanctity. Roses have been described as her signature for answered prayers – her mission after death, she would say, would be to make God loved -“I will spend my heaven doing good on earth. I will let fall a shower of roses.” She died at the age of 24. Her Feast Day is celebrated Oct. 1.
